Status as delivered
The body has been delivered paint stripped, but unfortunately somone thought, it might be a good idea to cover sheet metal with a kind of wax. This will cause a lot of problems later on, especially the paint will be an issue. Almost every sheet metal work done in the past will be reworked, as there was definitly no brain involved.

Repair of main beam RHS
The main beam strukture needs replacement up to the rear axle. A lot of the sheet metal can be ordered from reproduction, but some parts need a manual rebuild. To allow a proper reconstruction of that main area, the body has been fixed on a bench and the upper structure is also fixed by additional subframes.

Repair of main beam LHS
In B PLR area the main repair panel is currently not available and needs a manual rebuild. Inner and outer rocker as well a small reinforcements are supplied in a proper quality. Before final welding of the main structure, fit an finish of doors, windows, wings and body side outer has to be checked.

Repair of A and B pillar
A and B pillars need a lot of attention, as former repairs where executed badly. B pillars are further damaged by rests of paint stripping chemicals. Everything is reverted back to an original and rust free status.

Repair of Front Structure
The complete front strukture needs to be renewed, as it also has been sadly treated in the past. Again a mixture of supplied and hand made panels are adapted and welded to their original spec. The task list also contains the welding of the GT fender flares, which ar welded by WIG welder. All gaps need to be watched and adjusted during the assembly of the front structure.

Repair of Body Side Outers
Almost 80% of the original sheet metal part will be replaced by either supplied repair panel or maunfactured ones. Again, the former repairs leaves me speachless...

Roll Cage
A perfect fitting roll cage has been delivered and is adapted to the structure.

Changes to adapt 986 Rear Axle
To adapt the S986 Rear Axle to the 914 body, an all new structure is developed. This unique part of body work is based on 15 years of experience in body shell development. The result looks great and solid and fits the origin structure. The targeted drivetrain is again a mixture of S986 Gear Box and 964 3,9L Engine. Massive changes are done to adapt this unique drivetrain to the new unique structure.

Next Steps
Bodywork is almost done now. Fit and Finish of the complete outer skin is still to be finalized and a million little things to be done befor we can see a realistic Roll Out date! We'll keep you updated!
